The short answer

Route 450, stop Albin-Jörg-Straße.

Maidbronn isn't on the railway, but it is on the bus network. Route 450 runs from Würzburg via Maidbronn to Rimpar and on to Gramschatz. It stops at the Maidbronn Albin-Jörg-Straße stop, and from there it's 410 metres to the front door, about a 7-minute walk, slightly uphill along Steigstraße towards the end.

We deliberately don't list departure times here. Timetables change twice a year, and a time printed on a holiday home website is wrong sooner or later. These sources show today's timetable:

The network is called the VVM (Verkehrsunternehmens-Verbund Mainfranken, the Mainfranken public transport association). For questions, their customer service can help on 0931 36-886886.

The two stops in Maidbronn.

Maidbronn Albin-Jörg-Straße

Distance: 410 m On foot: about 7 min Route: 450

The closer of the two, and the one route 450 stops at. The route runs via Albin-Jörg-Straße and Steigstraße, paved the whole way, slightly uphill towards the end. Manageable with a suitcase.

Maidbronn Am Baumland

Distance: 630 m On foot: about 10 min

The second stop in the village, at the southern edge. Depending on the route and direction of travel, this one may be more convenient, which is why it's listed here too.

Honestly

When the bus is worth it, and when it isn't.

The bus is worth it if you want to spend a day in Würzburg: the Residence, the fortress, the old town, a glass of wine in the evening. Then you don't need to look for a parking space in the city, and you don't have to drive after that glass of wine. It also works well for getting here without your own car: by train to Würzburg, then a bus.

For trips into the surrounding countryside, you'll need a car or a bike. The Gramschatzer Wald forest, the Main river meadows near Erlabrunn, the wine villages along the Mainschleife loop: no bus runs there often enough to fit a holiday day. If you're travelling with a dog and want to walk the longer routes, a car gives you far more freedom.

Services get thin at weekends and in the evening. That's normal out in the countryside. If you're arriving without a car and getting in late, just let us know. If need be, we can pick you up from the stop.
